Why IV infusions?

IV (Intravenous) fluids are specifically formulated medicines and nutrients directly injected into a patient’s vein in various medical treatments. IV infusions help the medication or the nutrients to access the body more rapidly through the circulatory system. That is why, through mild to chronic medical treatments, their usage is not so uncommon for medical caretakers.

Depending on the individual’s need and medical treatment, some of the IV infusion uses are briefly listed;

Antibiotic infusion

IV antibiotics are often used to treat severe infections requiring high medication doses.

Fluid Replacement Infusion

IV fluids are also given to replenish fluids and electrolytes in cases of dehydration or when a person cannot take fluids orally.

Chemotherapy Infusion

IV chemotherapy is used to treat cancer by delivering powerful medication directly into the bloodstream.

TPN (Total Parenteral Nutri)on)

TPN is a specialised IV infusion that provides all the necessary nutrients for individuals who cannot eat or absorb nutrients orally.

Blood transfusion

IV infusions are commonly used to deliver blood or blood products to patients who need them, such as in anaemia or blood loss cases.
